The goal of these digital history projects is to provide a holistic account of the military inundations during the Dutch Wars of Independence. Each project explores the floods from a different perspectives. The Brief History provides context of how the floods were used, the interactive map allows users to visualize which towns and cities were impacted. The podcast provides insight into my overall research and the correspondence map showcases William of Orange's network before and during the wars.

Brief History of Military Inundations

This exhibit provides a brief account of the military inundations during the Dutch Wars of Independence. Along with providing a general overview of the nature of the inundations, it examines the strategic floods during the encounters at Brill, Alkmaar, Leiden, and Antwerp.

Inundation Map

This interactive Map allows users to see which towns and cities experienced natural and military floods during the Dutch Wars of Independence. They can sort and filter via several categories.

Correspondence Map

This interactive map shows the extensive correspondence of William of Orange. It visualizes the roughly 13,000 letters archived at the Huygens Institute.
